Chino Valley Dine’n’Ride
Chino Valley Dine’n’Ride
As the first Meetup Ride of 2008, this event rates 5 stars, even though ReggaeRide backed into my highway peg in the parking lot. Of course, any event that involves bikes and food is going to get at least a 4-Star rating from me. The food was really good; not huge servings, but mighty tasty, and the prices were very reasonable. Good Coffee. Cozy atmosphere too; I sat by the fireplace. After breakfast wer pulled out the calendar and scheduled a few more rides. It looks like Breakfast rides will be held on Second Saturdays for the next couple of months. We also decided to aternate between breakfast and brunch each month. In other words, the 2nd Saturday of February will be a Brunch Ride. The 2nd Saturday of March will be another Breakfast Ride. Confused yet? We also scheduled a Day Trip for this coming Friday to the Vulture Mine in Wickenburg. Check the calendar for details.
After the meeting was adjourned (no one could drink any more coffee) we motored over to C.V. Cycles, in Chino Valley, where Jim Oquist, the owner, showed us around the shop and showroom. His son, Danny, was also on hand to help with the guided tour. They have several stock Harleys, some freshly-built customs and even a few consignment bikes for sale. There were also customer’s bikes being serviced, along with a couple of rolling chassis and some really nice-looking project builds in the works. Jim has been operating C.V. Cycles since last June, and it looks like they have found a nice niche in the local motorcycle industry. Way to go Jim and Danny! After snapping some pictures and a few hardy handshakes, we headed out for a short ride past Lynx Lake and up Walker Rd. Please note: motorcycles are NOT allowed to park on the sidewalks at Prescott Gateway Mall. don’t ask me how I know.
