MOTORCYCLE EVENTS CALENDAR - 2012 H.O.G. Events - BIKER EVENTS AND RALLIES

Attendance for 2011, the 71st annual, was slighty over 415 and it seems that Mount Rushmore does well during the event as well. The attendance seems to slowly drop- ing over the years but it is still one of the largest annual events. See http://www.sturgis.com/2kstats for some very interesting stats on the Sturgis Rally. Take a short ride on one of the favorite local rides in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the Iron Mountain road. Close by you can also ride The Badlands. The Badlands national park costs a view bucks to ride through but it is well worth it. The town itself is only barely alive when the rally is not in town and many of the shops are closed. However, plans for the 2012 Sturgis Rally are on schedule for the 72nd Sturgis rally and you can get the facts here.

TOP MOTORCYCLE RALLY IN EUROPE and LARGEST IS:

Thundersprint The largest motorcycle rally in Europe is the Thundersprint, held annually in May in Northwich, Cheshire, England and usually features notable motorcycle champions or enthusiasts such as Giacomo Agostini and James May. Click the text above to read more about European rallies. The Thundersprint is as far as one can get in difference from the Sturgis rally. Although the Sturgis rally actually started out as a racing rally there is no way that it can compare with the Thundersprint. Yound and old, families or not, the Thundersprint provides some great excitement in racing right down town. The Oldest Motorcycle Rally in the U.S.

The Laconia Motorcycle Week in Laconia New Hampshire, with attendance up to 400k bikers. This is the oldest rally in the US with the first one held in 1916! Get ready for the 89th annual Laconia week .June 9-17,2012 www.laconiamcweek.com.

The Largest Motorcycle Rally in the U.S. that is ‘family-oriented’ is the Americade.

The Americade May 1983 marked the first "Cade" in the east. Veteran motorcyclist Bill Dutcher, and a small but able staff, hosted "Aspencade East " at Lake George, NY. Social and demo headquarters were at Roaring Brook Ranch. The TourExpo tradeshow was held at the Glens Falls Civic Center, approximately 10 miles to the south. This first event drew over 2,000.
