Cottonwood, Arizona
A BIKER’S
PARADISE
...mild winter
weather.... lots
of roads to ride...
Once called the ‘Biggest Little Town of Arizona”, Cottonwood, Arizona lies near the heart of the VerdeValley in Central Arizona. Compared to other towns nearby like Prescott , Sedona, and Flagstaff, Cottonwood has the lowest elevation and therefore has a more ‘biker-friendly’ climate for this neck of the woods. It’s central location provides motorcycle riders with numerous choice rides out of town.
...a great place
to stay while visiting local attractions...
Cottonwood also has a lot to offer the visitor with regard to choice of where to stay, shop, or eat. Since it so close to Sedona, a major southwest attraction, one can save a little cash by doing business in Cottonwood rather than Sedona. Cottonwood also offers a lot of diverstiy for the traveler. There is ‘Old Town’ Cottonwood with days of the past charming B & B’s, and 50’s style Hamburger Station, or metropolitan Cottonwood with newer more modern establishments with all of the conveniences. Medical and emergency services are second to none in Cottonwood.
...Cottonwood, Arizona, truely a biker’s paradise...
Bikers from Cottonwood can reach popular destinations like Sedona and Jerome within minutes. The beauty of Sedona’s red rock monoliths and the climb up through the Oak Creek Canyon towards Flagstaff is ride to remember. Guiding your iron thru the streets of the old mining community of Jerome over the Mingus mountains towards Prescott provides an unforgettable experience that you’ll own forever. Just riding around the Verde Valley on a lazy summer afternoon will give you the reward that we all enjoy when riding our scooters. Cottonwood, Arizona is indeed a biker’s paradise!
"I can't imagine staying any where else for my next visit to Cottonwood and Sedona. The house is so charming, the bed and bedding so comfortable and luxurious...”

About The

Verde Valley

The Verde Valley is rich in beauty as well as history.  Cottonwood is one of seven towns located in the Verde Valley with Cottonwood being the largest.  The Verde Valley is over-looked by Cleopatra Hill and the Mingus Mountains to the west, the Mogollon Rim (the southern crest of the ancient Colorado Plateau) to the north, and the Bradshaw Mountains to the south.  The Verde River and several tributaries like Oak Creek run through it and it is surrounded by the Prescott National Forest.

If that isn’t enough to make one want to ride around this ‘historical valley’ on their motorcycle all day long than maybe the fact that the Verde Valley contains the beauty of Sedona, the Red Rock country, with its magnificent array of red sandstone formations.  These famous red rock monoliths are a special layer of red rock that is only found in Sedona.

The Verde Valley is not only a valley of great beauty it is also provides a window to the past with the best preserved cliff dwelling in North America.  To be clear, how about a thousand year old 20 room  condo nestled in to the side of a cliff?  This is Montezuma’s Castle.  One of the first four of our national monuments in the United States built by the Sinaqua people over 700 years ago.

Just a few miles north adjacent to old town Cottonwood and Clarkdale lies another national monument.  Tuzigoot National Monument is an ancient pueblo situated on the top of a desert hill.  Tuzigoot was built and inhabited by the same Sinaqua people.

Mining is a big part of the history of the Verde Valley.  Over a billion dollars of copper, gold and silver were taken from the depths of Cleopatra Hill situated on the west side of the valley in the Mingus Mountains.  Here we find the old copper mining town of Jerome.  Once a thriving mining community Jerome now attracts folks with its many art and gift stores, not to mention the ‘billion dollar view of the Verde Valley below.

Although there are a lot of fantastic roads to ride around the Verde Valley one cannot dismiss the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon gorge that rises from about 4000 feet to over 7000 feet in about 11 miles through a series of shaded twisties along the creek.  If the beauty and history of the Verde Valley doesn’t inspire you than riding the Oak Creek Canyon on a beautiful day should!
