The Peach Springs 66 ride is a round trip ride. It starts out in downtown Prescott turning around at the Hackberry general store and returning on the same route. It is about 150 miles long and rides mostly Arizona’s Historic Route 66. You will pass through the Peach Springs , Hualapai Indian reservation.
Leaving downtown Prescott in front of the county courthouse you will head east on Gurley street. Stay in the left lane and turn on to highway 89 leading north out of Prescott. After about 10 miles you will arrive in Chino Valley. Highway 89 is the main street of Chino Valley so just keep trucking along unless you forgot to fill your tank.
Highway 89 shoots fairly straight through high desert and after about 35 miles you will meet up with Interstate 40. You will need to get on the interstate headed west towards Los Angeles for about 6 miles exiting at exit 139, the historic route 66. Just follow the signs and in no time you will be on the Mother Road headed for Seligman, about 17 miles away.
Seligman is your first stop and home to the Arizona’s Historic Route 66. The folks in Seligman made it happen by getting the government to designate this section of the old 66 the ‘Historic Route 66’. There are several places to eat but I would recommend Lilo’s Cafe half way through town on the left. Lilo is famous for her giant carrot cake. Lilo and her spouse, Pat, run the cafe and the service and food is unsurpassed.
You might also want to stop at the Sno-Cap and souvenir shops in Seligman, like the Rusty Bolt. You will know the Rusty Bolt when you see all the mannequins on the roof. They have recently added a Biker accessory section in the store.
Continuing on your ride another 25 miles you will pass through Peach Springs, Valentine, Grand Canyon Caverns and finally end up at the Hackberry Store, a famous stop for tourists and bikers. Have a cold pop, turn the iron around, and head back the same way you came! Have fun!
